The Tour to the seven lagoons of the snow-capped Ausangate is a walk full of beautiful landscapes, where you can see turquoise lagoons, snow-capped mountains of the Vilcanota mountain range and the mountains of Ausangate and Ayangate. You can also have time to take a relaxing bath in the hot springs located at the foot of the mountain.

Names of the Lagoons:

Blue qocha – Otorongo – Puca qocha – Alqa qocha – Q’omer qocha – Orqo Otorongo – China Otorongo and the Pacchanta Hot Springs.

ITINERARY

  • The Tour begins at 04:30 hrs with pick-up from your Hotel in Cusco
  • 05:00 hrs begins the approximately three-hour trip to the town of Pacchanta. Where breakfast awaits.
  • Immediately, the hike begins with a moderate ascent until reaching the Azul Qocha lagoon and continuing to the following lagoons onwards. The entire walk takes approximately five hours between the trip and the return. On the tour you visit lagoons of various colors and sizes that impress every visitor with the natural beauty of each of them.
    The lagoons that are seen are Azul qocha, Otorongo, Puca qocha, Alqa qocha, Q’omer qocha, Orqo Otorongo and China Otorongo.
  • A variety of birds and animals such as alpacas, llamas, and vizcachas live in these lagoons and surroundings.
  • After that, we will return to Pacchanta where a delicious lunch awaits.
  • Afterwards we will relax in the Hot Springs. After the hot springs we will return to the city of Cusco, arriving in Cusco at 7:30 p.m. to soon.

Can I go to the seven Ausangate lagoons on my own?
Yes, you can go. Now we inform you of the steps you must follow:

  • Leave Cusco early at approximately 6:00 am, to go to the local bus station and board the transport that goes to the town of Ocongate.
  • These local service buses are located on Huayruropata Avenue.
  • Take a 2-hour trip to Ocongate and have breakfast.
  • You must then look for public transport or taxi to the town of Tinke, located about 9 kilometers away.
  • Later you must take a bus or taxi to the town of Pacchanta.
  • In Pacchanta you must pay 10 soles (or 3 dollars) to visit the 7 lagoons.
  • From then on you must start the walk and visit the lagoons.
    For the return, it is the same procedure.

This tour is recommended for people who hike regularly and are acclimatized to the altitude.
